Mesa Verde National Park
A world center for exploring the ancient culture of the Ancestral Puebloan people, who built spectacular cliff dwellings and mesa top villages between A.D. 450 and 1300. There are many archeological sites within the park, and excellent interpretive loops and scenic pullouts throughout. The park is located just 35 miles west of Durango and provides many services including, interpretive tours, and restaurants.

Million Dollar Highway
US60 to Durango, continue on to Purgatory. US550 north from Durango along the San Juan Skyway. Low grade residual ore was used to pave this route which gets its namesake from the millions in gold and silver that was mined along each stretch of road.

National Historic District
The 1882 Train Depot, the Strater Hotel and the Newman Building are among the Victorian collection of restored buildings gracing this gas lamp district.
13th Avenue and Main Avenue, Durango, CO

Third Avenue National Historic District
Also known as "The Boulevard," two blocks east of Main Avenue. This area features several restored Victorian mansions constructed by wealthy railroad and smelt owners of the day. The home styles span from Greek and Gothic Revival to Queen Ann and Mission architecture.
